Mosque setup guide

How to set up Baian for your mosque

Connect your mosque’s sound system to Baian and bring the khutbah to your congregation in their own languages. Our team can walk you through the setup on a call.

  1. Your imam’s microphone

Send a clear audio feed from the mosque’s sound system.

  2. Baian on your laptop

Choose your congregation’s languages and start translation.

  3. Your congregation’s phones

Share the QR code so worshippers can read or listen.

One audio feed. Translation for your congregation.

What you need

Have a laptop, reliable internet and a clear audio feed from the imam’s microphone. Worshippers also need internet on their phones. Anyone listening to translated speech needs their own headphones.

Your sound system must send audio into the laptop. A mixer with USB audio may connect directly; other mixers need a USB audio interface. Ask whoever manages the mosque’s sound system to check the connection before Friday.

1. Sign in and open Live

Open the Baian platform and sign in or create an account. Choose Live. If the languages or session options you need are missing, contact Baian before the khutbah so we can check your account.

Open the Baian platform

2. Connect the imam’s microphone

Connect the mosque’s sound system to the laptop. Allow microphone access in the browser, then select that audio device in Baian.

Ask someone to speak through the imam’s microphone. Check that Baian receives the sound. Keep the microphone close to the speaker and avoid picking up the room through the laptop’s built-in microphone when a direct feed is available.

3. Choose the languages and start

Choose the spoken language settings and the translation languages your congregation needs. Wait for any language changes to finish saving before starting the session.

Start translation and check the live text. Use a short passage from the planned talk to check names and Islamic terminology during your rehearsal.

4. Get the QR code and listener link

Open “Share with listeners” on the Live page. Use the Link tab to copy the listener link, or the QR tab to download the QR code.

Display the QR code on a screen or printed sign. Share the listener link with worshippers who cannot scan it. They open it in their phone browser and choose from the available translation languages.

5. Test as a worshipper

Open the listener link on a second device. Check translated text and, if you plan to offer it, translated audio using headphones. Test from the prayer area, where people will actually connect.

Once the test works, keep the laptop connected to power and assign someone to watch the translation during the khutbah. End the session when the programme finishes.

If something is missing

No audio input: check the cable, selected device and browser microphone permission. No listener audio: check the selected language, the phone’s volume and headphones. No connection: check internet on both the laptop and the listener’s phone.

For help, send us the mixer or audio-interface model and a description of what happens. Do not send account passwords.
