Planning your event

What should you plan for?

Bulgarian in EU and national proceedings

The European Union lists Bulgarian as an official language since 2007. Bulgaria’s constitution names it as the Republic’s official language and, under Article 36, makes studying and using Bulgarian a right and obligation of every Bulgarian citizen.

Bulgaria’s government also describes Cyrillic as the EU’s third official alphabet. The institutional language requirement and the written translation are both worth checking when you are preparing material for delegates from Bulgaria.

Слушайте or Четете after Български

A guest taps Български and sees “Как искате да участвате?” in the Bulgarian listener interface. Слушайте is the listening option and Четете is the reading option. Audio follows the translation through the attendee’s headphones, while the text remains available for reading.
