Planning your event

What should you plan for?

Indonesian in national and conference language roles

Indonesia’s constitution names Indonesian, Bahasa Indonesia, as its national language. Its Cabinet Secretariat reported on 21 November 2023 that the language was designated an official language for proceedings of the UNESCO General Conference.

Timor-Leste’s constitution also allows Indonesian and English as civil-service working languages alongside its official languages for as long as deemed necessary. For a regional programme, record that conditional working-language role separately from each individual delegate’s chosen translation.

Bahasa Indonesia opens Dengarkan and Baca

The attendee selects Bahasa Indonesia and reads “Bagaimana Anda ingin mengikuti?” on the Indonesian listener screen. Dengarkan starts translated audio and Baca selects text. Navigation is in Indonesian, so neither mode requires the guest to work through English joining controls.
