Planning your event

What should you plan for?

Italian among GEM Summit’s eight audience languages

At GEM Summit in Doha on 29 January 2026, Baian translated Dr Nayef Bin Nahar’s Arabic speech into Italian, one of eight audience languages. Attendees followed the session on phones and the venue’s large screen. Human interpreters worked at the event alongside Baian.

Ascolta and Leggi for the Italian audience

After choosing Italiano, an attendee sees ‘Come preferisci seguire?’ and the choices Ascolta and Leggi. Audio and written translation are both available. These controls stay in Italian while the person on stage speaks Arabic.

An Arabic guest speaker before OSCE-language delegates

The OSCE lists Italian among its working languages, alongside English, French, German, Russian and Spanish. For an Arabic guest speech before delegates using those languages, identify whether Italian alone meets the audience need or whether the programme requires several translated outputs.
