Keep the video. Add the subtitles.
Import the SRT into your video editor, or upload it as a subtitle track on a platform such as YouTube. Choose the language that matches the file.
Your recording
The original picture and sound. An SRT file does not replace it.
Your subtitle file
The words and their start and end times. You can have a separate file for every translated language.
What is inside the file?
Each subtitle has a number, a start and end time, and the words to display. Select a line below to see how it appears over the video.

Welcome to today’s lecture.
We’ll begin with a short introduction.
How do I get translated subtitles?
Upload your recording to Baian Caption Tool and choose your languages. Download the files when they’re ready, then check names and specialist terms before publishing.
Making English subtitles? Follow the steps for an Arabic recording or an Urdu recording. If you already have an SRT file, this is not an SRT-to-SRT translator: start with the original audio or video.
Will the words be stuck on the video?
Not by downloading an SRT. A separate subtitle track lets viewers switch it on or off. To make the words part of the picture, add them in your video editor and export a new video.
Add each language’s file to the same video in YouTube Studio. You don’t need to upload another copy of the video for each subtitle language.
Common questions.
What is an SRT file?
An SRT file holds subtitle text and the times when each subtitle should appear and disappear. It is separate from the audio or video.
Does an SRT file contain my video?
No. Keep the original video. You add the SRT file to it in a video editor or a platform that accepts subtitle files.
Can Baian make translated SRT files?
Yes. Upload an audio or video recording to Baian Caption Tool, choose your languages and download a separate SRT file for each language.
Can I upload an existing SRT file to Baian?
This workflow starts with an audio or video recording. It does not translate an uploaded SRT file.
